Plugins being able to access REAPER API?

from the iPlug2 announcement thread at Cockos/WDL forum:

Does this mean VST2 plug-ins which are able to access the REAPER API?
If so, is there an example yet?

(Just generally curious, no intention to do something immediately with it… :))

Yes, you can make a VST2 plugin and access the Reaper API by defining REAPER_PLUGIN in which case this becomes the base plug-in API class
